By shifting between a world of light and a world of shadows, these two fireflies must work together to recover Mion’s memories and lead her out of the ruins, where voracious shadow beasts, ancient machines, and treacherous traps lie in wait to bar her path. But what secrets do Mion’s lost memories contain? What is the connection between her, the ruins, and the fireflies lighting her escape? The answers may reveal a deeper darkness—one that must be faced from within...

Unique Game, Wonderful Art

I purchased the Limited Edition on a bit of a whim. I had not heard much of the game, but the LE bundle was attractive and the art style of the game had me interested. At $29.99 I thought it was a very fair price to try out something different. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the game in the mail the day before the release date. Thanks, NIS

The game (essentially a platformer/problem-solving game) utilizes an interesting use of both touch screens. The main character is controlled using the front touchscreen to move a firefly from one place to the next and she follow accordingly. Things change up with the shadow element is introduced. At certain points you will find a dead end that can't be resolved by climbing or by moving crates around. By tapping the back touchscreen you enter the shadows, and you lead a pink colored firefly that can move about in shadowed areas to solve problems that cannot be seen in the light. When you find yourself facing the first boss of the game, you will need to become adept at switching back and forth between these modes in order to survive.

The art in the game is beautiful. Those who were able to get the LE get an art book, soundtrack CD and the special packaging. The book is an overview of the characters and some background and concept art, which is something I love. NIS puts together a beautiful LE.

Outside of a few basic control tips, you're largely on your own to figure things out. Depending on the user that can be a plus or a minus, but I liked the challenge. My only gripe thus far is that the controls can feel a little imprecise at times, with the firefly not going where you thought you were heading. If you are unfamiliar with using the back touch controls on a regular basis, there is a learning curve in becoming accurate moving an object around with them.

I've only played through the first couple of levels thus far, but I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. It was a great buy for me. (Posted on 2/28/2015)

Great game for a great price. Happy I got my hands on the Limited Edition. Going to add the soundtrack to my mo3 player soon and also use it as a ringtone. (Posted on 2/23/2015)
