An Intriguing Mystery
In Trails beyond the Horizon, the newest entry in the Trails series' Calvard arc, Van Arkride continues his investigation into the mysteries swirling around Calvard just as the Calvardian government announces Project Startaker: an ambitious plan to take humanity's first steps into space.
A sudden invitation to a special training exercise from the high-tech security company Marduk sets Van, along with the Empire's Ashen Chevalier, Rean Schwarzer, as well as the Septian Church's Fifth Dominion, Father Kevin Graham, on a collision course with the secrets that lie at the very core of Zemuria. Their paths may diverge, but the ultimate question remains the same for all three: just what lies beyond the edge of the horizon?
The fast-paced gameplay fans have come to know and love from Trails through Daybreak returns in Trails beyond the Horizon, but this time around, Field Battles and Command Battles have been kicked into high gear with new ways to get the upper hand on your foes!
The powerful Z.O.C. ability allows your party to briefly freeze time in battle for everyone—everyone except you, that is! Taking advantage of this opening is a great way to deal massive damage and get a quick stun on your enemies. Follow this up with Awakening, a technique used to unlock the true potential of certain characters, and your enemies won't stand a chance! And while these techniques are particularly impressive in Field Battles, both Z.O.C. and Awakening can be used to turn the tide of Command Battles, as well!
As for the story of Trails beyond the Horizon, we don’t want to reveal too much just yet, but even though the three protagonists each have their own dedicated routes through the story, that doesn't mean they can't team up to deliver a beatdown!
Amidst the other mysteries at play, Marduk's own virtual reality paradise, the Märchen Garten, has been hijacked once again, and this time it’s been twisted into a dark fairytale known as the Grim Garten. Van, Rean, and Kevin will need to join forces along with all of their allies in order to get to the top of the Grim Garten and stop the nefarious forces behind its transformation.
